Today marks the 5 year anniversary of holding my daughter for the very first time. I look at her still see the tiny little 1 year old they placed in my arms, though now she is a 6 year old bundle of perpetual motion. Friends we met on the journey (who adopted a little one from the same orphanage on the same day) came in from VA and are spending the weekend with us. We are having a soup supper with 5 of the 7 families tonight, and then we are having a cook-out with a balloon release tomorrow. We may head out to the pumpkin patch, too. I feel so blessed to have these other families in my life. Hoepfully there will be some good templates coming up as I create pages for all the pictures that I am taking!
Have a blessed, wonderful weekend!
In my last post I said that I was going to have a Mama/Daughter evening with my baby girl. We headed out for dinner after her big sister’s parent/teacher conference. Guess I ought to start with the conference. Her teacher is very impressed with my oldest DD’s attempts at writing. When the teacher asks for an explanation of the writing, it really does make sense, and, as she says, “has a voice” instead of just stating facts. All I know is that my daughter loves school and is having a blast. She is eager to learn and really wants to know how to read, write and spell. I am just so proud of her!
Back to the rest of the evening. DH took DD#1 to McD’s for dinner. I took DD#2 to the library, Wendy’s and then to Wal-Mart. We had a totally pleasant evening. She picked out a winter coat for herself (pink) and one for her sister (which when she saw it this morning, she loved!). I was looking for some other items for myself and totally struck out, but still got the cleaning/household items I needed and had a blast with my daughter. She really has a delightful sense of humor. She had so much fun monopolizing my time and having me at her beck and call. When we got home she demanded a snuggle with me, but quickly sought out Daddy and fell asleep with her feet in his lap. She was still asleep when I left for work this morning. While I was getting ready this morning I heard a tapping on my bedroom door and opened it to find DD#1 sitting on the floor, clutching her blanket, grinning at me. She came in the room, crawled up on the bed and pulled me down with her and cuddled up against me saying “I missed you last night”. She was sound asleep when I got home last, so we did not get our regular snuggle time. She was very excited to tell me that Daddy read her the nightly Bible story that I read her.
Today it is easy to count my blessings – time with my family, the love of my family, and the gift of my wonderful girls and husband!
OK, I did not get the pics from my oldest’s birthday posted last week. Once again, life got in the way. She seems to be having sleeping issues. Bless DH heart, he is the one that gets up the most with her, but it does disrupt my sleep and my creative mojo just doesn’t work when I am sleepy! So to make up for the delay in posting, I made a new template.
It has some texture to it. Here it is filled with my youngest, who thinks she is helping paint by climbing on the ladder.

You are going to have to read a little to get the link, though!
Here are some pics from the party….

Both of these were created using Teriann Templates and her kit – That Spring Thing. I made the cake (which I have to say turned out remarkably well). DD wanted sprinkles so I got one of those cakes that have sprinkles in them and then the icing had sprinkles too. Even the candles were sparkly! I never thought this girl would ever want anything girly – of course she has Spidy on the shirt she is wearing. What a kid! Baby DD did not like that older one got so much attention. We have been nursing a bruised ego for several days now. She is acting like she needs a little one on one mommy time. That is fine with me. I love those days!
Well, you have suffered enough through my family things. Here is the link!
Where in the world does time go? It seems like day before yesterday that I posted, but it has been a week again!
Life continues to remain busy and crazy – but with the 2 girls, a FT job, DH trying to build his own business as well as trying to get a good celebration of oldest DD birthday in there, I guess I can’t expect anything else! I will get the pictures of her birthday downloaded sometime this week and post them. The little one was not very happy with all the attention that the older one was getting – especially the presents – but that is all part of growning up. She was pacified that she got some of her big sister’s items when big sis took the step up from “My First Leappad” to a Leapster. So the little one got the leap pad is thrilled!
I did manage to get another template completed. It is both in PSD and PNG. I hope you all like it. Please leave me a little comment about what you think of things. My blog is sorely lacking in the comments section! Thanks!
Here is the new template -

You can download it here. Don’t forget to leave a comment!
Have a great day!
