Nothing to share, sorry!

Filed under: Uncategorized — lighthousegal @ 7:49 am

Well, I was able to get some scrapping done yesterday, but it was for my youngest’s lifebook.  These are private books that I won’t share on the WWW.  It contains very personal information about her first year of life – the year before we were a family. If it was partly my story (for example, me giving birth), they I would have no trouble sharing it – you all know me, I don’t hide much of anything.  But since this is a period of time before I was around, it is her story to share or not share as she wants to as she grows up.  There will be pages that are just photos, and those I will share.  But the journaling parts that talk about very specific portions of her story will be hers to share with whoever SHE chooses.

I worked on a freebie template last night.  The only thing that I need to do is make the PNG layers for those that don’t use PSD templates.  I am hoping to have that done and posted this evening.  Nothing else exciting around our place.  Hope you all have a wonderful and blessing filled day!

Leg update

Filed under: Kid stories, Uncategorized — lighthousegal @ 2:27 pm

Just thought I would give you a leg update.   We have had some moderate itching under the cast.  This is where the ability to get the cast wet is wonderful!  We just run some water either up from the toe or down from the top until the itching stops.  You should see her face when the water gets to the itchy place – it looks like we have given her noodles (her equivalent of candy).  The doctor’s office did get in some cast boots that will fit her, so she now moves around even better.  She came tearing around the corner from the stairs the other day and I had to make sure her cast was still on because she was moving so well.  This does not slow her down in the slightest!

Now, for the other one.  We are having some major jealousy issues there.  She now comes up and tells me that different parts of her body hurt and they must be broken, she needs a cast.  We have been doing lots of cuddle time with that one, to compensate for the extra attention that the older one is getting.

That is about all the excitement around here.  Hoping to get some scrapping done sometime either tonight or tomorrow night.  Have some more park pictures that I want to get done, then work backwards for the last 5 years!  Can you tell I am way behind?!

A scrapped page

I have been trying to carve out some time for some scrapping recently – between strep throat, broken bones, the usual chaos of  2 kids under 7.  I did manage to get one very special set of photos from December done.  These were taken the day my oldest lost her two bottom teeth.

The template I used for this layout is one of Teriann Hanks – Doubles Simple.  It is currently only 99 cents at the Potato Bar at Polka Dot Potato.  The kit is by Kay Miller – Over the Rainbow.  The toothfairy items are from one of her add one kits, called, oddly enough, the Toothfairy.  Those 2 teeth have been replaced by 2 big girl teeth that are growing in nicely.  Hope you enjoy the pages.  Drop me a comment when you have the chance!

Now, just in case my youngest looks at the computer sometime and gets miffed that she was not included as well, here is a layout of her at the park earlier this month.  I can’t believe how much she has grown, matured and just blossomed.  In the last couple of weeks it is like she has decided that it is ok to be goofy, adorable and funny.  She is much more animated and shows more physical affection.  It is just so fun to watch her personality continue to develop.  The template I used on this layout is also from Teriann Hanks, and available on the Potatoe Bar.  It is called Forget Me Not.  The kit is Courtney, once again by Teriann Hanks and available on the Potato Bar at Polka Dot Potato.

auction – starts today!!!!!!!

Filed under: Blessings, General, digital scrapbooking — lighthousegal @ 7:00 am

You all know how near and dear China’s children are to me.  Please read the following post by an organization that is so vital to the lives of so many children.

“Born In My Heart” Art Auction

April 24th – April 29th
(Beginning the 24th @ 9:00am PDT)

In nearly every orphanage in China, children in need of heart surgery wait to be healed. In an effort to help as many of these orphaned children as possible, Love Without Boundaries began the “Born In My Heart” art auction five years ago. This is an annual event that serves as our special tribute to the miracle of adoption, and also as a fundraiser to help us provide these essential operations to children who need emergency heart surgery.

You can help to save the life of a child by taking part from April 24-29. Every penny raised will help to heal precious children and give them the opportunity to grow and thrive, and perhaps even find a family of their very own. So please bid often and bid generously!

Auction items will begin to launch at 9am (Pacific) on Thursday, April 24th. Nearly 300 items will be added throughout the day, and the auction will close Tuesday, April 29th (again, with items closing throughout the course of the day).

We have some absolutely incredible items this year, all donated by LWB’s fabulous supporters! Just a few of the items you won’t want to miss are: “Jia: Portrait of Hope” by Leila Ashton: an original oil painting of one of our LWB heart babies, a life-size replica jade burial suit, two giclee prints of “Qi Pan” by Zhao Kailin, personalized digital lifebooks, the most beautiful collection of quilts imaginable (including several “100 Good Wishes” quilts), beautiful paintings (both originals and giclee prints), caligraphy, custom adoption videos, amazing photography, embroidery, gift baskets, jewlery, clothing, heritage items and so much more!

You will be able to access our auction from the Love Without Boundaries website homepage at: www.lovewithoutboundaries.com, beginning April 24th (auction items are not available for preview).

You can also play a part in healing hearts by posting about the auction! If you have a personal or family website or blog, we would be so grateful if you would mention this event, as so many children are counting on us for surgery. Help spread the news that lives can be saved!

Thank you in advance for helping to make this year’s auction our best ever!

She jumped, she bounced, she broke…

Filed under: Kid stories, Terrann Hanks' items, digital scrapbooking — lighthousegal @ 7:10 pm

And she is now the proud owner of a baby blue short leg cast.  I really did not think that she had enough body mass to actually break a bone, but she managed to.  She was bouncing on her bed on Sunday evening (I know, bad mom, but YOU try and stop this child from bouncing – at least we have cleared all items that she could bang her head on) when she got distracted by looking for her sister and lost track of where she was on the bed.  It swelled immediately, but she could stand on it, and move her foot around in all directions.  We iced it, gave her some tylenol and put her to bed thinking it was just a sprain.  The next morning the swelling was better, but she could not stand on it, and worse, she said when she bounced while being carried it hurt.  DH was responsible for all the MD stuff on Monday.  I was down with strep throat.  Thank God the pain is minimal and requires tylenol only before she goes to bed.  We are also thankful that the fracture was not at the growth plate, but above it.  Today she returned to school.  She was the belle of the class and came home with all sorts of Kindergarten signatures all over the cast.  Her baby sister is a little miffed that big sis is getting this extra attention.  The little one, who is usually not really cuddly, fell asleep on my lap this evening after big sis gave up the fight and was already asleep in bed.  My day could not have ended on a nicer note.
The credits for the page are :

Template – Teriann Hanks – Tell Me About It
Kit – Teriann Hanks – Beckham

Right now Polka Dot Potato is having their Potato Bar sale – so all the items that I used in this layout are only 99 cents each!  She has some gorgeous 2 page templates, an adorable girl kit, and a couple of really great more masculine kits as well as some neat overlays, and frames and mats.  Head on over and check it out!
