Winter Wedding

I can’t believe that it has been 5 weeks since I last posted.

So much has happened – weddings, holidays, family gatherings, a new year, Chinese New Year, a vacation to Virginia – all sorts of fun things.  Let’s see if I can can start to catch up.

On December 6, my cousin got married.  The wedding was in the northern part of our state, which required a little bit of a road trip.  The morning started out with a breakfast with Santa at JB’s school.  Then we headed north.  The weather was snowy and blowy, but sunny all the same.  As we drove we found radio stations that played all Christmas music and sang along.  This road trip is where my girls were introduced to “I Want a Hippopotamous for Christmas”, which has since become the YouTube favorite in the house.  C&C, that is one thing I will eternally hold you responsible for – if not for your wedding I may have escaped hearing that song 4 million times!

Anyway - we arrived in time to get checked into the hotel, dressed and headed out to the wedding.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  I was so honored to be there and share their day with them.   The bride was lovely.  The minister gave a moving sermon on marriage.  EB spent the entire wedding trying to figure out who the veil stayed on the bride’s head (there are priorities in a 5 year old diva’s brain).   The girls loved getting dressed up.  The reception was an intimate affair and both girls were able to fill their own plates at the buffet and return without immediate adult supervision.  This was a milestone for them and they were quite proud of it!  Both girls also tried out the dance floor, but JB was a little shy for some reason.  As we left the wedding and the reception, we walked out into a winter wonderland full of sparkling snow.  I could not think of a more romantic, beautiful wedding day for these 2 very special young people.

C&C – I wish a happiness, joy and love throughout your lives.  I hope your sadness and tears are few, but help you appreciate the joy and blessings you have.  God bless your marriage and your lives.
